YMP Toronto is excited to have Mr. Shaun Usmar join us as part of our Leaders in Mining Speaker Series on January 23rd, 2020 at Barbarian’s Steak House.

Shaun is the founder and Chief Executive Officers of Triple Flag Precious Metals, a growing, precious metals-focused royalty and streaming company based in Toronto. Shaun has been an international mining executive with 25 years of experience working around the globe in operational, financial and executive leadership roles in some of the world’s largest and fastest-growing mining companies. Prior to founding Triple Flag, Mr. Usmar served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Barrick Gold Corporation, from 2014 to 2016, where he helped restructure the company. He joined Xstrata in 2006 as an early senior executive member of the management team that grew the company into one of the world’s largest diversified miners at the time of its acquisition by Glencore in 2013.

Mr. Usmar is also a member of the Board of Directors of Peabody Energy Corporation, a director of Make-A-Wish Canada and staunch supporter of Youth in Mining.

He holds a BSc Eng in Metallurgy and Materials from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, both with distinction.
