Young Mining Professionals Vancouver is pleased to launch a virtual fireside chat series, hosting senior executives for a discussion about their careers, their companies and their perspectives on the impact of the current pandemic on the mining industry and the overall market environment. We are excited to host Christian Milau, CEO of Equinox Gold as our inaugural guest, on Thursday, April 30, 2020. Tara Hassan, Director, Mining Content & Strategy at VRIFY, will moderate the discussion, which will include a brief Q&A session at the end. Future confirmed speakers in the series include David Garofalo, Chairman and CEO of Marshall Precious Metals Fund, and Don Lindsay, President and CEO of Teck Resources.
Christian Milau, CEO, Equinox Gold
Christian Milau has been the CEO of Equinox Gold from August 2016, leading the team through three mergers and an asset acquisition and growing the company from a single-asset developer to a multi-asset producer in just two years. Prior to joining Equinox Gold, Christian was the CEO of True Gold until it was acquired by Endeavour Mining for approximately $240 million in April 2016. Prior to True Gold, Christian held senior positions at Endeavour Mining, New Gold, BNP Paribas in London, and Deloitte. Christian brings more than 20 years of experience to the company with expertise in finance and capital markets as well as operational, government and stakeholder relations experience. He is currently a director of Northern Dynasty and Plateau Energy Metals.
Tara Hassan - Director, Mining Content & Strategy, VRIFY
Tara Hassan is the Director, Mining Content & Strategy for VRIFY Technology Inc. Prior to joining VRIFY she was a mining equity research analyst focused on small to mid-capital explorers, developers and producers in the precious metals space for nearly 13 years. During her time as analyst Tara worked at a range of investment dealers from boutique to large banks, with her research being disseminated to global institutional investors. Before entering the financial services industry, Tara worked as a mining engineer for Inco (now Vale) and Placer Dome (now Barrick Gold). At these companies, she held operating, engineering and project-focused roles, working at eight different mines and gaining experience in a wide variety of underground and open-pit mining situations. Tara is a Professional Engineer (Ontario) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
